    Will it be done?

Thursday, May 15, 2008, 01:43 PM EST [General]

Holey shit, Invasion is less than a week and a half away and I have done NOTHING for my costume.  Well, this is not true.  It's fully cut out, and a few bits are put together.  But still, GAH!  And, tonight I need to stop by the craft store and the new hardware store by my house.  I loves me a good hardware store!

This fabric?  Is a complete bitch.  Slips around worse than sewing velvet.  I had forgotten what a royal pain in the arse is is, since I haven't sewn it since that ill-advised belly dancer costume in college.  This is a good part of why I insist on natural fabrics!  It better turn out as spiffy looking as I envision it!

To-do tonight, in order, for once!

  • Go to craft store
  •

  • Get dinner
  •

  • Go to hardware store
  •

  • Get home
  •

  • Work on secret project X
  •

  • shower
  •

  • put away laundry
  •

  • Sew
  •

  • Perhaps work on secret project X some more
  •

  • Panic over how much I've still got to get done before next Friday
  •

  • Go to bed
  •

I might not come and hang out after Faire on Saturday; I may need to time to work on these projects.  I also may not come to Faire on Sunday; ditto the above.  We'll see.  I say this crap all the time, and I usually end up going, anyway.

    More pictures!

    Random Foolishness
I was standing around stretching my leg.  Maggie decided to join me.  Tony decided to join us.  It was random.  I made Tommy take a picture.  Welcome to the silly that is Rennies entertaining themselves.

I've only got two weeks left!

Managed to get a small start on my Day of Wrong costume last night.  Pattern and layer one of three successfully cut out.  I'm really going to have to buckle down and get working on it if I want it done in time!  I haven't even started working on accessories, yet!

Other than that, not much new.  At the window today, which is SLOW.  I don't think I've sold a thing all morning.

    GARF week 5 photos up

Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 03:47 PM EST [General]

I seem to be averaging about 75 decent pictures a weekend.  The Flickr Pro account was so worth it!  I got some good pictures this weekend: battle chess, opening gate, the Barbary pirates street barbering.  If you're on my f-list and work at the festival, odds are I got a good picture or two of you this weekend or on previous weekends: check it out.  Usual story; up on Flickr.com, they'll be up on Renspace.com tomorrow.

And here's three of my favorites from Saturday's Battle Chess:

    There be giants here!
Who knew we had giant pirates?!  When you go on your rampage, just be sure to spare the pub!

    That's gotta hurt.
    Ooof!

    Moment of impact.
I'm calling this one "Moment of Impact."  I just wish the dust hadn't been stirred up so bad and it hadn't been so far away.  The extreme zoom really kills the quality.

    Enjoy, folks!

At least they weren't rude about it.

Since business at the 14th St Playhouse has slowed down for the summer, a bit, I've been transferred back up to the main box office at the Woodruff Arts Center three days a week.  Yesterday was my first day back up here, and it was HELL.

Welcome to the first day that single tickets go on sale to the general public for the Classic Chastain Summer Concerts series.  The phones lit up like mad the second they were turned on, and didn't stop ALL day.  Usually we can clear the que in an hour, two hours, tops.  It never got cleared yesterday.  At one point, we had over 30 people waiting for ticketing agents, and the person who had been waiting longest had been on hold for 70 minutes.  Two of the managers were off, one of the phone agents called in sick, and my boss's boss would not help.  Five people trying to handle what should have been an eight person job.

But, we managed, with the help of some bagels.  My voice was SORE at the end of the day, though.  I worked my poor tongue off.  Yesterday, in seven hours, I sold nearly $10,000 worth of tickets.  That's just my portion of what was sold.  I don't know the overall total.  Didn't even have time to check my e-mail between orders.

Today I'm at the front window, and it's much quieter.  I've done four orders, one to a really obnoxious fellow who thought he was being witty.  You're messing with a rennie, bub.  Hells, you're messing with a rennie who regularly hangs out with Carl Foster!  Hand me random inanity and I'll throw it right back at you faster than you can blink!

I should be able to get my photos from this weekend posted today.  Tonight, when I get home it's kitchen cleaning night (fuck.), studio cleaning night, and time to get cracking on the sewing for my Big Bits Day garb.  Hehehehehehehe.

Oh, and damn those Rum Runners!  I've got fucking Barlow's Privateers stuck in my head and it won't go away!

Where's my co-worker supposed to come in at noon?  I need a potty break!

    Yup. Told you.

So, last night was indeed an orgy of cleaning.  I got everything done except putting the laundry away and mopping the office.  Oh, and accomplishing anything on any of my projects.  The rats and mouse are now cranky, as they always are after cage cleaning day.  They work so hard getting things nice and stinky and then I come along and clean everything up.  They'll live.

The heat and a/c system on this morning's bus was all messed up.  I felt like I was in a sauna.  It seems like this has been a very extended and cool real spring for once, and it's messing everyone up.  I know I'm accustomed to going from cold to hot with no in between since I moved to Atlanta.

My co-worker brought a whole package of Oreos in to work with him today.  I know he's going to try and tempt me.  I wonder how strong I am today.  And how many I can get away with....

    Whiskey does her trick again.
Whiskey does her mug trick again, with Tommy's supermug!

    Lady Itty Bitsy...likes floggers?
And to everyone's great surprise, apparently, Lady Itty Bitsy likes floggers.  This picture amuses the hell out of me!  (Actually, what's happening in the picture is she's trying to get everyone to cheer for her so she won't get "assassinated," so don't get your panties in a twist and report me for inappropriate content!)
