    Not my fault.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 04:22 PM EST [Real life interferes]

The new resident company at 14th St is making my life difficult.  They have been very clear and explicit in all of their literature, as well as e-mails to the box office, that anyone purchasing a student or senior ticket must present ID proving they are such.  This means that we can't sell these tickets over the phone, since we obviously don't have video phones to check the IDs.

I just got off the phone with the fourth person today who thinks this policy is "absolutely ridiculous!" and was cranky and pissy with me.  I'm inclined to agree that it's ridiculous, but I'm going to keep enforcing it, even when patrons get mad at me.  Sorry, but sparing a complete strager a little momentary inconvenience is not worth losing my job.  I keep wanting to say, "Do they not have rules where you work?"

Easter, huh? I want my chocolate bunny!

Sunday, March 23, 2008, 01:50 PM EST [Real life interferes]

This is a strange and uncomfortable day at work.  Not only am I working on Easter (which I'm not too annoyed about because I'm getting holiday pay AND overtime), but I'm working up at the Big House, so to speak.  I'm stuck on the phones at the Memorial Arts Building as opposed ot my usual cozy perch at 14th Street.  I don't mind working here, but it's very different than 14th Street and a lot more complicated, and I haven't been up here in weeks, so I'm a little out of the loop.  Luckily, due to the holiday, it's pretty quiet.
However, since I'm usually not here, Shari had, at some point, given my drawer and headset to a new girl.  It still had my name on it, though, so when I got here, I took it and started using it.  When the new girl arrived, late, I was on the phone with a patron.  She tapped me rather hard on the shoulder and pointed emphatically to her name on one corner of the box.  I pointed emphatically to my name, on the other corner of the box and then at my ear to indicate that I was helping a patron, go away.  She stood around and glared at the back of my head for a few minutes and then gave up.  Sorry, chica, but if we have to share equipment, it should go to the person responsible enough to actually arrive on time.
After I leave the Arts Center, I'm going back over to Horizon to fill in stage manage for In Darfur.  I'm not sure how I feel about this.  As I have no knowledge of the play, the cast, the way the director runs rehearsals or even where the SM script is, I'm not precisely sure how much help I'll be for one rehearsal.  But, it's a favor for Horizon, and I like being on their good side.
I'm sort of wishing I had the time to devote to my sewing, though...

    Hey CRF Folks!

Wednesday, March 12, 2008, 11:29 AM EST [Real life interferes]

I know it's way early, but any even vague guesses when Invasion will be this year?  I've just accepted a gig that runs EXACTLY the run of CRF, but with the caveat that I'd be able to train a replacement for one weekend only, and I need to tell them that weekend as soon as possible.  I'd like for it to be invasion.
    Thanks!

Damn work gets in the way

Thursday, April 19, 2007, 11:21 AM EST [Real life interferes]

I may not be able to make it to GARF this Sunday.  It depends on how I can make things work out with this second show.  If I cannot go, I will be VERY cranky, though I'll be the first to admit that I could probably use the sleep-in.

And then a 10 hour work day.  Instead of 6 hours of GARF and a 5 hour work day.

     *sigh*
