There were thunderstorms down by my house late last night/early this morning. At precisely 4:51 I was woken by a peal of thunder so loud and long that I thought the natural gas tanks up by the main road had blown up! (This is a constant worry, as they're only about half a mile away) Phouka, who was sleeping at the foot of the bed army-crawled up to me for a cuddle, and was put out at me when I decided the better party of prudence was getting up and unplugging my computer.
I appreciate all the rain, but I can't wait for the grey-cold-damp to dissipate some and a bit of warmth and sun to permeate. I'm going to garden a little this year (I swear, really!), but I've no desire to go fight off the weeds and hack out a little section of garden space, just to freeze my fingers off in cold mud!
For those who asked, here's the picture of me looking all cute in my silver jacket yesterday. Why does it always rain when I wear new shoes?
One of my backstage girls took this for me. Look, I've even got my own red carpet!

I decided, this morning, that I don't need any excuse to dress up fancy besides to please myself. So, I pulled the silver jacket I bought in San Francisco out, and put it on over a black velvet top, pin stripe pants and my funky new shoes.
I CAN HAZ STYLE! IZ FUN!
Anyway...
Yesterday, at work, I sketched out the rough plans for the closet organizer I'm going to build, possibly next week. REALLY basic, but I am so tired of worrying that the clothes bar that is currently in there will collapse. Again. Under the light weight of Tommy's and my minimal wardrobes.
It should be about $200 in supplies (lumber has gotten EXPENSIVE!), $50 worth of tools(!), and an afternoon or so worth of work. We are talking basic. Clothes bar, top shelf, shoe rack underneath and a shelving unit behind the door swing. That's all we really need.
I'm really fond of today's photos. I'm calling the series "Unexpected Door Into Faerie." They feel very urban fae, to me. I walk past this little scene almost daily, and never bothered to really LOOK until a few days ago! Three is my personal favorite.

Lots of chores last night. Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the rat cage, dusting the bedroom, changing the sheets, hanging weapons in the living room. You know, the usual.
I have been smashing the snooze button HARD, lately. Just having the worst time getting enough sleep. I had interesting dreams last night, though. Well, actually, dream singular; it just kept going and going and going!
I went to Mars; actually I was the first woman to set foot on Mars, the second human. When I came home, someone decided I should be on a reality show because I was already famous, but not an entertainment celebrity, and it would raise ratings. I did so well on the show that I ended up the lead in some award winning play. And someone stole my car on opening night.
Anyway, it was an eventful night; no wonder I woke up tired.
Two job day, today: full day at the box office, and then the show. I've had two days off: hope I still remember how it goes! ;-)
Here's today's photo:
I was leaving the theatre the other night, stopped in the driveway, waiting for the light. I happened to glance out my window and saw a little face looking back at me! It's such a friendly looking little post!

After our Valentine's Dinner (Chinese buffet: nomnomnom potstickers and sushi!), yesterday, Tommy and I went to go find me shoes for our upcoming trip to Disney. The "tennis janes" I bought two yeas ago (my FAVORITE shoes) are just about dead, so a new pair of comfy, lightweight, breathable shoes was in order.
Thanks to a sale, and Tommy's influence, I came home with four pairs. I am not a shoe person. I don't think I have EVER IN MY LIFE bought more than one pair of shoes at a time. That being said, my shoe wardrobe WAS in serious need of an overhaul; I had running shoes, work boots, dead Mary Janes and loafers. The strangest part of this being that I walked in wearing (newish) size eight loafers. I walked out with three pairs of size seven and a 6 1/2.
So $60 got me two pair of comfy shoes for Disney and trebled my shoe wardrobe. Maybe I am a girl, after all.
And I haven't forgotten about my daily photos!
One of the highlights in this life I have constructed for myself, is my pen-pal-ship with John Broadfoot, though my schedule often keeps me from being able to write back promptly. I managed to snag a few hours between work and performance on Valentine's Day, and settled in at Krispy Kreme to jot off a letter. Note the uncharacteristic abundance of hearts and shinys. When else am I going to use them, but in February?

Opening night happened last night, and it went pretty well. The house opened late, and one of the special effects got stuck half way through (leading to a little comedy gold on the part of our lead), but my actors were on FIRE, and I called a perfect show! Tony gave me a bottle of wine, too! There was a cast party, but I didn't go. I had to be at work early this morning, and I had just enough time to get home and send out my performance report before I had to go to bed. Besides, as the stage manager, the supposed voice of reason and sobriety, no matter how crazy everyone else gets, I always feel uncomfortable at cast parties. I always feel...outside.
Though, speaking of lushes....
Damn alcoholic dog! I was going to finish that wine! Look at her, all chilled out-drunk eyed. And look at that tongue!
Look at her with her nose all stuck in the glass! Determined to get every single drop!
