I got stuck in the worst traffic jam last night. It took me two and a half hours to make it from Midtown to McDonough. That's only a drive of about 30 miles. In one of those hours I only drove two miles, directly under the approach lanes for the airport. this made me thoroughly cranky, as it was date night and that extra hour and a half on my commute was taken directly out of our date. Tommy was waiting for me so we could get pizza.
Today I've spent half the day banging my head against the wall because of my uber-slow work computer. They updated the virus protection to a version that apparently eats RAM for breakfast, and now it takes me five minutes (not exaggerating, I've timed it) just to switch between items on the task bar, 'cause I only have 248MB of RAM! (as a side note, what the hell kind of number is that for amount of RAM?) They've ordered me some more memory, but until it arrives, I'm crawling up the walls here. It is seriously affecting my ability to do my job. I'm actually running two computers right now so I can hop back and forth as necessary.
But, at least there are amusing things to look at out the window. This morning around 11 about two dozen motorcycle cops went by, followed by a large herd of bicyclists. I seem to recall a similar event happening about this time last year. I still don't know what it was.
Looks like I'm taking a sort of summer break from theatre and then plunging right back in. I've been offered enough work to keep me gainfully employed from the middle of August to the beginning of next January. I've already accepted the August-November gig, but I'm going to consult with Tommy about the holiday show. He does like to see me every once in a while. I'd really like to have all this work, though. I've done the math on my likely pay, and it would be enough to get me out of credit card debt and put away is savings at least a month of bills, Just In Case, which makes me happy. AND have Christmas shopping money. Which makes everyone else happy.
Just a few hours until fabric shopping! Yay!!

This is not the best of the pictures I took of my tree this morning, but I'm posting it because I am amused; I caught two little birdies flying by!
