GARF days]
The weather this weekend was perfect. Sunny, warm, but not hot, nice breezes. GREAT faire weather. Only way it could have been better would have been partly sunny, instead of full sun.
to lace me into my back lacer." I had left it off until I got there so
could sleep. She did a good job! I was comfortable, and Phillip, bless him, kept making noise about how much weight I'd lost (I've gained 20 pounds since last I saw him), so I must have looked good!
It was very much the Wench's Twelve Step Program on Saturday morning. I ran into so many people on my way up the hill. I finally ended up hanging out in Raven's Nest for a half hour or so, and chatting with
, and later
and
about the nature of our subculture, the joys of internet social networking, theatre, garb, and community.
The Lost Boys were having a good morning. They all looked like they were having fun, and quite energetic. Lots of kids in the audience having a good time, too!
I ended up running into David from
Trench's Funny Farm at the show.
and I met him at the New Year's Eve thing last year. Neither of us recognized the other; he was missing his face paint, and I didn't have my cat's eyes contact in. It was fun to run into him and his brood!
Did some more wandering and "window" shopping. I want a silver or charcoal grey bodice to round out my wardrobe. The only thing I found even vaguely enticing was at Crimson Chain, but I think I have enough leather bodices at this point. I may try to get one similar to Maggie's with the mandarin half collar; it's so cute.
Made the good two-hour block at pub, and was involved in the game of "Heavy" Potato with Navarre. Child kept giving me this look while being cuddled and danced and played with by half a dozen wenches, "Yeah, my life is good and I know it!" I wandered off again when the pub bands began to repeat themselves. Don't really recall what I did with the rest of the afternoon. Something, I'm sure. I think I walked around talking to boothies. I'm making a lot more friends among them this year!
I stood with for gate, and we watched the Nickel Shakespeare Girls do a few monologues. I think I'm going to have to put them through their entire repertoire this season. Hmmm, next Saturday, I'll request Henry VIII and Comedy of Errors. Before we could go our separate ways we got cornered by Captain Drago (spelling questionable), who bribed us with roses to be outside the pub at 1:30; no explanations. I promised to be there; I always accept bribes of flowers, liquor and candy ;-)
Watched two of the new shows that morning, Aerial Angles and Barely Balanced. Both well worth seeing, perhaps a few times. Wandered some more (I'm doing a lot of aimless wandering this season) and was in pub for 's pub set. We are all having far to much fun torturing that poor girl with Ratlin' Bog. I'm very pleased with my "dead defenestrated malevolent basilisk."
The event at 1:30 outside the pub was a wooing contest between Captain Drago and the Duke of Buckingham. was their victim, er, judge. It was much fun.
I went a wandering again, met up with wandered up to chat with at Hairsticks, back down to Cat's set in the middle of the square in front of the maze. It was hot. It was sunny, I got burnt. It was fun anyway. I was tired, so I sat in the grass. Maybe I'll dance next time if I'm not tired.
Went back up to Hairsticks in time for to get off, and we went back down to the pub. Well, she went to the pub, I went to work.
